Wolsey assured Henry obtaining a divorce would be easy however foreign policy and his arrogance meant he failed
Wolsey and Henry kept perusing routes which would not work e.g., previous pope's failure
Henry blamed the lack of divorce on Wolsey
he was able to resist attacks from the nobility for 15 years prior, suggesting the failure to get the divorce meant he fell from power. However this hatred from the nobility and upper classes meant Wolsey had no one to help him
Anne was very involved in politics and also blamed Wolsey
Henry was unsure whether Wolsey's support lay for the pope or the king.
Wolsey was released and allowed to reside in the countryside however later arrested and returned to London. He died on way to London 29th November 1530
