  Breaks down the food so it fits down the throat, using chemical (Saliva) and mechanical (teeth) decomposition.
• What does the Oesophagus do?


  It transports food from the mouth to the stomach.
• What does the stomach do?

  Digests food using chemical (Stomach acid) and mechanical (Moves around) decomposition.
• What does the liver do?

  Produces bile that is added to stomach.
• What does the small intestine do?

  Absorbs nutrients and water from digested food using villi by chemical digestion.
• What adaptations do villi have?

  Large surface area, rich blood supply and thin walls.

  
• What does the large intestine do?

  Absorbs water, forms faeces.
• What does the rectum do?

  Stores faeces.
• What does the anus do?


  Releases the feaces.
