Quadrats and transects method B

• Write down hypothesis on effect of abiotic factor on distribution of plant species
• Lay down tape measure from base of the tree to an open area of ground
• Place quadrant against 0 side of the tape with one corner touching the 0 corner
• Count the number of plants recorded in table below
• Place quadrant 5 m up the tape and repeat step 3
• Repeat step 4 and 5 m intervals until you reach end of transect line
• Gather data from class to find mean number of plants
• Plot graph of the number of plants against ecological gradient
