    • Enzymes are often more useful than any non-biological alternatives in speeding up rates of reaction.
  • WASHING POWDER
    • Enzymes present allow washing to be carried out at a lower temperature, sacking money (not heating water much).
  • FERMENTATION / BREWING
    • Sugars found in fruits are fermented using enzyme, zymase from yeast. Turns sugar into ethanol (alcohol).
  • BAKING
    • Sugars in dough are broken down by enzymes in yeast (zymase) producing ethanol (which is boiled off) and carbon dioxide that makes bread rise.
