  • Hand, Foot & Mouth
    • Common childhood illness that can also affect adults
    • Resolves itself in 7-10 days
    • Causes sore throat, temperature, not wanting to eat
    • Mouth ulcers & rash will appear after a few days
    • Raised spots on the hands & feet, sometimes on thighs/bottoms as well
    • The spots become blisters which appear grey/ lighter than surrounding skin
    • Can be painful
    • Can get Hand, Foot & Mouth more than once

    1. Drink plenty of fluids - avoid acidic drinks (fruit juices)
    2. Paracetamol/Ibuprofen liquid - Antipyretic/ Analgesic
    3. Eat soft foods like yoghurt - avoid hot and spicy foods (apply mouth ulcers treatment in general)
  • Hand, Foot & Mouth counselling
    • Highly contagious
    • Spread via cough/ sneeze/poo/fluid in the blisters
    • Do not share towels / cutlery
    • Use tissues & bin them immediately after use, wash hands regularly
