Plotting Rate Graphs

Cards (4)

    • The rate of reaction is quicker when the gradient of the curve is steeper.
    • The reaction has finished at the point at which the line becomes flat, levels off.
    • Independent variable is plotted on the x-axis - usually time for rates of reaction graph.
    • Dependent variable is plotted on the y-axis - usually the decrease in mass of reactants or increase in volume of a gaseous product.
    • A line of best fit is drawn through plotted points, free-hand smooth curve - anomalies can be ignored.
