  Trypanosoma brucei gambiense:

  • Gambian Trypanosomiasis (coined term for specific name)
  • West African sleeping sickness


  SIGNS and SYMPTOMS:

  = Eschar (chancre)

  = Winterbottom's sign

  = Kerendel's sign
• Human African Trypanosomiasis (HAT)

  • Rhodesian Trypanosomiasis (coined term for specific name)
  • East African sleeping sickness 


  = Much more virulent than T. gambiense

  = Lymphadenopathy is Absent
