    • Childhood illnesses e.g. chickenpox, tonsillitis

  • Immunisation dose?
    2-3 MONTHS
    • PARACETAMOL - 120mg/5ml
    • (>4kg & born after 37 weeks) 2.5ml (60mg) if necessary, after 4-6hrs can give 2nd dose of 2.5ml (60mg)
  • Paracetamol doses by age 120mg/5ml
    • 3-5 MONTHS - 2.5ml (60mg) QDS
    • 6-23 MONTHS - 5ml (120mg) QDS
    • 2-3 YEARS - 7.5ML (180mg) QDS
    • 4-5 YEARS - 10ML (240mg) QDS
  • Ibuprofen doses by age100mg/5ml
    • 3-5 MONTHS - 2.5ml (50mg) TDS
    • 6-11 MONTHS - 2.5ml (50mg) TDS/QDS
    • 1-3 YEARS - 5ML (100mg) TDS
    • 4-6 YEARS - 7.5ML (150mg) TDS
    • 7-9 YEARS - 10ML (200mg) TDS
    • 10-11 YEARS - 15ML (300mg) TDS
    • DOSES SHOULD BE GIVEN EVERY 6-8 HRS (WITH MINIMUM 6 HOURS BETWEEN DOSES)
  • Paracetamol doses by age 250mg/5ml?
    • 6-7 YEARS - 5ML (250mg) QDS
    • 8-9 YEARS - 7.5ML (375mg) QDS
    • 10-12 YEARS - 10ML (500mg) QDS
  • referrals in children with fevers?
    • <3 months old - high temp of 38 C or more
    • 3-6 months old - high temp of 39 C or more
    • Rash with high temp
    • not eating/or their usual self
    • high temp that does not come down with paracetamol/ibuprofen
    • dehydration- DRY NAPPIES, SUNKEN EYES, NO TEAR WHEN CRYING
