  • Ringworm/ body
• Refer symptoms of tinea:

  • secondary bacterial infection e.g. yellow crusts, weeping
  • toenails infected in athletes foot
  • diabetics/immunocompromised patients
  • unresponsive to treatment
• Treatment for tinea

  1. Topical imidazole anti fungal preparations - clotrimazole, ketoconzole, miconazole (continue treatment for 7 days after symptoms have cleared)

  2. May combine antifungal with steroid (daktacort)

  3. Terbinafine - all preparations licensed for athletes foot and jock itch, Spray & gel licensed for ringworm
