• Step 1:

  • Mr of compound
  • E.G. water = H2O -> Mr = 18
• Step 2:

  • What percentage of water is hydrogen?
  • Equation - total mass if atoms of element / total mass of compound x 100
  • E.G. hydrogen total mass = 2 -> 11.1%
