  • When a conductor carrying a current is placed in a magnetic field the magnet producing the field and the conductor exert a force on each other. This is called the motor effect.
  • Flemming's right hand rule states that if your thumb points along the direction of the current, your first two fingers point towards the north pole of the magnet then your palm will face the direction of the force acting on the wire.
