• Torque; measured in newton metres: (force) multiplied by (radius)
• Compound gear:

  • Consists of two or more gears fixed onto each other or on an axle
  • They rotate at the same speed

  
• Idler Gear:

  • A gear in between the driver gear and the driven gear
  • Does not affect the gear ratio
  • Used to change the direction of rotation
