  • Middle Ages: Period between the roman empire and the renaissance. It ws considered "middle" or "dark", without any major scientific accomplishments or great art. The term incorrectly implies that the period is an insignificant blip, sandwiched between two more important eras.
  • Start:
    • 476 AD, when emperor Romulus Augustulus was replaced by Odoacer, King of Italy.
    • Romulus Augustulus, seen as the last emperor of the western roman empire, getting replaced symbolises the slow, but steady fall of the roman empire, which ultimately paved the way for the next era that was, esentially, the middle ages.
  • End:
    • 1517, Reformation
    • The reformation marked a fundamental transformation in religious, social, and political aspects. It dismatled the medieval structures and ideologies, paving the way for the modern era.
