Layers of the Atmosphere

• Troposphere - The lowest layer of the atmosphere, where weather occurs.
• Stratosphere - A layer above the troposphere that contains ozone gas.
• Mesosphere - 80-100 km, 90% of atmosphere, 99.9% nitrogen, 0.1% oxygen. Coldest temperature, and protects the Earth from meteoroids.
• Thermosphere - The layer of the atmosphere above the mesosphere and below the exosphere. UV radiation turns into heat.
• Exosphere - The outermost layer of the atmosphere, extending from 500 to 1,000 kilometers above the Earth. Has Hydrogen and Helium.
