Edward and government

• Edward wrote a memo recommending the reorganisation of the privy council and the limiting of it's functions.
• His diary entries show interest in the Habsburg wars
• in 1551 Edward began to attend privy council meetings aged 14
• Edward agreed in a privy council meeting in 1552 he will become king October 1553, 2 years earlier than planned.
• Somerset was Lord Protector; very strict and limited number of servants Edward could have. Ruled by the dry stamp and proclomations
• Somersets fall from power was fast and unstoppable '
• Northumberland ensured Edward was consulted more with government however he also manipulated where he could for wealth and power
