  • vena cava -> right atrium (muscle contracts increasing pressure) -> forces open tricuspid valves -> right ventricle (muscles contract increasing pressure) -> forces open semi-lunar valve -> pulmonary artery -> lungs -> pulmonary vein -> left atrium (muscles contract increasing pressure) -> forces open bicuspid valve -> left ventricle (contracts, increases pressure) ->forces open semi-lunar valve -> aorta -> body organs
  • blood pressure decreases to allow for gas exchange and blood becomes oxygenated (where does this occur?)
