Calvin Cycle

Cards (6)

  • step 1
CO2 diffuses into the leaf through the stomata and goes through stroma of chloroplast
  • step 2
CO2 combines with RuBp to make GP (catalysed by RUBISCO)
  • step 3
6 carbon molecules are formed but are unstable so it becomes 2 GP
  • step 4
Reduction of GP into GALP through the hydrolysis of ATP and oxidisation of NADPH in light dependent reactions
  • step 5
some GALP is converted into useful organic substances (carbohydrates, polysaccharides, lipids, amino acids and nucleic acids)
  • step 6
5/6 GALP use ATP from light dependent reactions to form RuBp - 6th GALP x2 forms hexose sugar
