Energy Resources

    Cards (17)

    • Energy - Capacity to do work
    • Renewable Resources

Energy that can be renewed or replenished overtime.
    • Geothermal
Energy from the internal heat of the Earth
    • Geothermal Gradient

Rate of change in temperature with depth. (Deeper = Higher Energy)
    • Dry Steam - Simplest and Oldest
    • Flash Steam - Most common
    • Binary Cycle - Water is not enough to produce steam.
    • Solar Photovoltaic - A system that converts solar energy directly into electricity using semiconductors (Solar Cell = 2W)
    • Solar Thermal - Utilizes sunlight for heating or electricity production.
    • Wind - Secondary form of solar energy
    • (Wind Farm) Onshore - On the coastline
    • (Wind Farm) Offshore - The wind turbines are placed in the sea, which is a good place for wind (stronger and steadier)
    • Grind connected wind turbine generator (GCWTG) - A generator that is connected to a wind turbine
    • Wind Hybrid System - A system that uses wind energy to generate electricity and a fuel cell to store the electricity. (It uses other sources)
    • Wind Pumps - Transforms Kinetic energy into potential energy by using the wind to turn a turbine.
    • Hydro - Utilizes kinetic energy of falling or running water to turn a turbine generator and generate electricity
    • Biomass - the total mass of living material in an ecosystem, including all living organisms and their wastes; stored energy from the Sun.
