  • proteins contain the elements C, H, O and N
  • The building blocks are called amino acids, which can be bonded together by a peptide bond
  • The main uses for proteins are: structural proteins (bones, hair, nails), transport proteins (haemoglobin) and enzymes (protein catalysts)
