• free and fair elections- all adults can vote and the results are trusted and accepted- 16-17 year olds and prisoners cant vote in general elections and the FPTP system has been deemed of being unfair
• corruption of wrongdoing are punished- in 2019 2 MPs Fiona Onasaya and Chris Davies were successfully recalled - cash fairs for mps re common such as the expenses scandal
• Citizens rights re protected- HRA allows citizens to use the UK courts to protect their rights under the EHCR- HRA is not entrenched which means that it can be scrapped with the act of parliament
• devolved decisions making- devolution has resulted in the transfer of power from central government to regional bodies
