• A person's private beliefs are sometimes different from their public beliefs.
• Conformity can happen due to being influenced by the majority.
• Conformity happens whenever the majority changes the persons private or public attitude.
• Compliance is a type of conformity where a person conforms publicly but not privately to be accepted by a group and avoid social rejection.
• Internalisation is when people change their attitudes because they believe it is right, even if there isn’t any pressure on them to do so.
• Identification is a type of social conformity.
• When a person has a social role that they admire, we say they have identified.
• When people conform by identification, they change their attitudes privately as well as publically.
