• the cerebellum is responsible for muscle coordination and sits towards the base of the neck at the back
• the medulla controls unconscious activities like breathing or your heartbeat
• neuroscientists have been able to snap the regions of the brain to particular functions by studying patients with brain damage, electrically stimulating parts of the brain and using MRI scanning techniques.
• the complexity and delicacy of the brain makes investigating and treating brain disorders very difficult
