    Confluence - where triburty meets the main river.
    Drainage Basin - the area where river drains water from.
    Mouth - End of the River
    Source - Start of the River
    Watershed - Area that separates two drainage basins
    Triburty - a smaller river that joins a larger one.
  • Types of River Erosion
    A ttrition - Material in the water ht against each other eroding the banks.
    R iver E rosion - The river weakens the banks and removes material.
    H yrdolic A ction - force of water hitting against the bed and banks.
    C orrosion / A brasion - material in the river water hits against banks .

    S altation - Rocks bounce along river banks.

  • Formation Of A Waterfall
    1. The H ard R ock above is u ndercut as erosion of the s oft rock continues.
    2. The h ard rock c ollapses into the p lunge p ool to be broken up and washed away.
    3. Erosion continues and the water slowly eats itself back up the s tream leaving a g orge .
  • Meanders Erosion
    1. The r iver flows through the meander causing some e rosion .

    3. The river cuts thought the meander and takes the s hortest path leaving an o xbow l ake .
