Environmental concerns

Cards (7)

  • Anthropocene
The geological age where human activity has been the dominant influence on the environment.
  • Climate change
    Long-term changes in climate pattern
  • carbon sink
a process that removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere
  • farming is a daily activity that increase greenhouse gases like herding of cattles as they pass a gas called methane which contributes to the enhanced greenhouse effect, further heating the planet causing sea ice to melt.
  • Planting more trees helps stop the enhanced GHG effect as they are carbon sinks, they contrast humans as they absorb the CO2 we release and produce oxygen leaving no negative affects.
  • Climate change is often viewed as negative as the planet has been heated in cold places but also hot places, which brings heatwaves and diseases like the 2019 heatwave in Europe that almost killed 900 people meaning health services will be needed and costing more money, reducing the economy.
  • Climate change contains positives like making cold places e.g UK a warmer temperature, meaning less cold-driven illnesses taking effect and more sunlight for vitamin D, people using less health services and less money will be used to help the economy.
