  • Genital herpes
    A sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by the herpes simplex viruses type 1 (HSV-1) or type 2 (HSV-2)
  • HSV-1
    Oral herpes or herpes labialis
  • Genital herpes
    • Characterised by vesicles (blisters) that may appear around the genitals and/or anus and/or mouth, often mistaken for another skin condition
    • May also be silent (the person is Asymptomatic yet continues to spread the virus)
  • Prodromal syndrome

    Appearance of certain signs and symptoms prior to the actual emergence of the full symptoms
  • Prodromal phase of a migraine
    • Patient usually suffers from photophobia, heightened sensitivity to noise and sounds, and increased sensitivity to smells (especially foul smells)
    • All these symptoms which occur prior to the migraine attack lead to know that I'll soon experience one
