Neurolation

• The first event in in central neurvous system (CNS) development → neural plate formation
• The neural plate is from ectoderm, cranial tot the primitive node
• Neural plate formation is induced by the notochord
• neural plate formation begins at the cranial end of the embryo with cell differentation into neuroectoderm
• neuroectoderm are ectodermal cells that are differentiated into a thick plate of neuroepithelial cells
• the neural tube is formed by folding of the neural plate
• The neural tube wil form the CNS
• The larger, cranial portion of the neural tube gives rise to the brain
• The narrower, caudal protion forms the spinal cord
• Neural crest in the neural groove wil form the peripheral nervous system
• Neurolation is the process wherby the neural plate forms the neural tube
