  • Shar'iah - a law code drawn up by Muslim scholars after Muhammad's death; it provided believers with a set of practical laws to regulate their daily lives
  • Mosque - A place of 'prostration' for muslims; it is a communal place of worship for a muslim community.
  • Immanence - Existing or operating within; inherent. God is always close by.

  • Al-Qadr - Predestination of the will of Allah; the belief that Allah has decreed everything that is to happen in the universe

  • Jihad - means "striving" can refer to an internal struggle against evil or an armed holy struggle against nonbelievers
  • Transcendence -Beyond or above the range of normal or physical human experience. God is beyond all things, not limited by the rules of nature.
  • Halal - Actions or things which are permitted within Islam, such as eating permitted foods
  • Tawhid -'Oneness' in reference to God; the basic muslim belief in the oneness of Allah.
