Cards (13)

  • 2/3 and 4/6 are called equivalent fractions
  • mixed numbers: made up of a whole and a fraction
  • improper fractions: numerator is bigger than the denominator
  • to change fractions into a percentage you can multiply the fraction by 100
  • When denominators are the same we need to add or subtract only the numerators
  • when the denominators are different find the first LCM and then work out as usual give your answer in its lowest form
  • to add whole fractions together you first need to add the whole then add the fraction and always give your answer as a mixed number
  • to see which fraction is bigger or smaller we need to get the fraction with the same denominator
  • First multiply the numerator then multiply those in the denominator
  • to divide by a fraction you need to turn the second fraction upside down and then we multiply
  • The reciprocal of a number is 1 division by that number
  • before finding the reciprocal of a mixed number change it to an improper fraction
  • When multiplying or dividing mixed numbers first change them to improper fractions and then multiply and divide as usual
