• Sucking

  • Happens when the top of the mouth is touched
  • Allows baby to feed
• Startle

  • Happens when baby wakes suddenly or hears a loud noise
  • Their arms open with stiff arms
• Grasp

  • When a baby’s palm is touched it will automatically grasp the object or fingers
• Rooting

  • When a baby’s lips or cheek is touched it turns it’s head looking for food.
• Standing

  • When held upright with feet on a firm surface, baby will step up with their legs
