Anthropocentrism- States that humans have the right to dominate nature for their own means.Ecocentrism- Sees humans and the environment as independent - harming the environment ultimately harms humans (green criminologists are ecocentric)
Many green crimes areundertaken by states themselvesthe very people supposed to be policing environmental harm. This is normally because tackling green crime is very expensive and some national are in different stages of economic development i.e. they need/want to burn fossil fuels instead of embracing new technology due to costs.Highlighted @ COP26
The military are the biggest institutional polluters due to the amount of unexploded devices and shrapnel that is left behind in war zones. They have long lasting effects due to the toxicity of the items for example farmers and northern France and Belgium are still finding shrapnel that is from ww1 and some fields are still unusable for agriculture.
Green crimes areextremely difficult to enforce/policesuch as corporations dumping hazardous waste into the ocean.International laws are new and underdeveloped. There are a few international laws about green crime
