Prophase,
the first stage of mitosis, is when the
chromosomes
condense
and the
nuclear
membrane
breaks
down.
The
spindle
fibres
attach
to the centromeres.
Metaphase,
sister
chromatids
line up along the
equator
of the cell, and the
centromere
splits in two.
Anaphase,
the chromosomes are pulled to
opposite
poles of the cell.
Spindle
fibres
retract.
Requires
ATP from respiration.
Telophase,
the
nuclear
membrane
reforms
and the cytoplasm spilts (cytokinesis) to form the 2 daughter cells.
