an enzyme called RNA polymerase binds to the the DNA at the start of the gene
the two strands of DNA separate apart so its bases are exposed
the enzyme then moves along the DNA and reads the bases and use to make MRNA
once it reaches the end it detaches and the MRNA is left which goes to the ribosomes
what happens in the step translocation?
the MRNA strand and the ribosomes bind together
the TRNA have amino acids on top and an anticodon of the bottom which is specific to a particular triplet on the MRNA which brings down the correct amino acid
the ribosome joins them together to make a chain of amino acids which becomes a protein which detaches and folds
