Limiting factors affecting photosynthesis

Cards (3)

  • -As light intensity increases the rate of photosynthesis also increases. This is because currently light is the limiting factor. However, at a specific light intensity, rate of photosynthesis stays constant because light intensity is not the limiting factor. E.g Carbon dioxide temperature migt be limiting factor
  • As carbon dioxde concentration increases, the rate of photosynthesis increases because carbion dioxde concentration is the limiting factor. The rate of photsynthesis increases until a certain carbion dioxide concentration because carbon dioxide is no longer the limiting factor.
  • At temperature increases, the rate of photosynthesis also increase. This is because the rate of enzyme activity increases due to increased kinetic energy leading to more frequent collisions. Rate of photosynthesis increases until optimal temperature where the temperature is too high leading to enzyme denaturing. This causes rate of photosynthesis to decrease.
