    • An expression is made up of one or more terms (e.g. 4x + 5)
    • An equation uses = to show that two expressions have the same value
    • An inequality use < , > , ≥  or  ≤  to show how the value of one expression compares with the value of another expression 
    • An identity use ≡ to show that expression have the same value for all values of the variables
