  A wave with vibrations parallel to the direction of travel in a series of rarefactions and compressions.

  The maximum displacement a particle will experience from zero
• What is wavelength?

  The horizontal distance travelled by a single wave
• What is frequency?

  The number of waves that pass a single point each second
