Excretion in humans

• excretion is the removal of toxic material and substances from metabolic reactions
• organs involved: kidney, lungs, liver
• lungs: excrete carbon dioxide through gas exchange
• kidney: excrete urea and excess water + ions
• carbon dioxide is dissolved in the plasma after excreted through the lungs
• the urinary system is responsible for excreting waste and excess substance
• ureter: carries urine to the bladder
• bladder: temporarily stores urine
• urethra: carries urine to the outside
• urine: excrete urea, excess water and ions as urine
• urine passes from the kidneys, through water and to the bladder; where it is stored temporarily
• when the bladder becomes full, the urethra carries urine from bladder to outside
