• As part of development Brazil is a key player in international groups such as BRICS and Mercosur
• Brazil has the 7th largest economy and is the 5th largest country globally
• Brazil has connections to Haiti as a transit country due to natural disasters such as Haiti earthquake 2010 which displaced 1.5 million people in the country
• there are 370,000 Brazilians in both the USA and Japan this shows Brazil's bilateral flows with other countries
• Social inequality however is an issue within Brazil especially with prejudice against black and indigenous groups in the country who are paid 30% less than other ethnicities
