  • Maps present information in a simple visual way
  • The importance of maps: Maps give acurrate information.
  • Types of maps: Political, Relief, Climate, Resources, Population, Geology.
  • .Political map: Shows the state and national boundaries of a place
  • Shows the location of cities and towns in relation to each other.
  • Physical/Relief : Map shows the physical features such as rivers, mountains, valleys, forests, lakes. They also show the height of the land.
  • The feature are usually shown in different colours and symbols : rivers and lakes: blue height/elevation : Low elevation in dark green and as elevation increase colours go from light green to yellow to orange.
  • Climate map: Shows the information about the climate of different areas.
  • Climatic map shows colours to show areas with different climates.
