Domain and Range

Cards (8)

  • Domain is the values you can input into the function (x values).
  • Range is the values that come out of the function (y values).
  • To work out domain from range:
    1. substitute the lower value in for y
    2. substitute the upper value in for y
    3. step 1 will give the lower value for the domain
    4. step 2 will give the upper value for the domain
  • To work out range from domain:
    1. substitute the lower value in for x
    2. substitute the upper value in for x
    3. step 1 will give the lower value for the range
    4. step 2 will give the upper value for the range
  • 27<f(x)<123
  • It will give a negative value under the square root which would be undefined so x would have to be greater than or equal to 4
  • -5<x<2
  • (4,1) minima
    (2,5) maxima
    -15<f(x)<5
