• New labour focuses on promotion of equality of opportunity rather than absolute equality and advoactes a mixed economy
• Redistribution from the rich to the poor is not a priority as long as there is equality of opportunity
• Mixed economy where government controls only some public services
• Healthcare and education shoudl be public-private partnerships
• Strong criminal justice system
