Roots

• Taproot: increases in diameter and length as it grows down. Found in dicots.
• Fibrous Roots: branches to the sides, a main root is not obvious. Found in monocots
• Root functions:

  1. Absorb water
  2. Selectively absorb dissolved minerals
  3. Store startch from food produced by leaves
