• Mostly from functionalist, marxist and weberian perspectives focusing on the disadvantages of the working class and the advantages of middle and ruling class.
• Age:

  • Peak age for crime seems to be 15-18 years old.
  • Male youths take up the most statistics from medieval times to now.
  • Ashe (2008) - in a 2006 self report study, 10-25 year olds were asked about crimes they committed in last 12 months. They found 22% admitted to at least 1/20 core crimes. Especially theft and assault.
  • Edinburgh study of youth and crime - 4300 youths from 11/12 in 1998, 50% of boy's crimes were rowdiness and fighting.
