Matched Guise Technique

• The technique investigates language attitudes with recordings of different accents.
• The recordings are in the same context with the same speaker - there are no intervening variables. Participants think there are different speakers.
• The technique evaluates the speaker's attributes: intelligence, friendliness, trustworthiness, competence and social status.
