• Carbon Sinks - A vegetated area where intake of CO2 from the atmosphere in photosynthesis exceeds its output from respiration,
• Carbon Store - a mature vegetated area where the intake of CO2 from the atmosphere by photosynthesis equals its output from respiration, so the mature plants store carbon.
• Role In Water Cycle

  Forests add water to the atmosphere during transpiration leading to the formation of clouds eventually being released as percipitation

  During deforestation, this process is significantly reduced, causing droughts in that specific area.
• Prevention of Soil Erosion

  Trees intercept rain, wich reduces heavy rainfall on the forest floor. Debries such as tree leaves on the floor slow run off. Roots of the tree hold the soil in place.
