  • what does blood exsist of
    55% blood plasma:
    -Water
    -fibrinogen
    -dissolved substances (CO²)
    + thermoregulation
    45% blood corpuscles:
    -red blood cells
    -white blood cells
    -blood platelets
  • what is the function of the fibrinogen
They coagulate blood by making fibrin threads on site of damage, platelets get stuck in the threads and together they close the wound.
  • blood plasma
liquid portion of blood that consist of:
    -water
    -fibrinogen
    -dissolved substances
    - thermoregulation
  • blood corpuscles
    - Red blood cells
    - White blood cells
    - Blood platelets
  • red blood cells
    -No nucleus
    -transport
  • White blood cells
    - Nucleus is present
    - Whipes out pathogens
    -> phagocytosis + forming antibodies
    - changing of shape
  • phagocytosis
That is what the proces is called when a white blood cell wants to whipe out a pathogen. He starts surrounding the pathogens and take them out.
  • blood platelets
    - no nucleus
    - stops wound / bruise from bleeding
-> they do this together with the fibrinogen
  • thermoregulation
blood plasma makes sure out body stays the same temperature
  • arteries
go from the heart to the organs
    - thick, elastic, muscular wall
    - blood flows onwards along with the rhytm of our heart
    - thick muscle tissue, thin connective tissue
  • Veins
go from the organs to the heart
    -hin wall
    - valves: make sure blood doesn't flow in the wrong direction
-thin muscle tissue, thick connective tissue
  • capillaries
inside organs, go from the arteries to the veins
    - wall is 1 layer of cells -> so that they can exchange substances with surrounding cells
    - no muscle tissue, no connective tissue
  • right atrium /
  • right ventricle /
  • left atrium /
  • left ventricle /
  • valve flaps /
  • crescent valves /
  • aorta /
  • superior vena cava /
  • inferior vena cava /
  • pulmonary arterie /
  • pulmonary vein /
  • septum /
  • capillaries of other organs
capillaries inside of the other organs
  • pulmonary capellaries
the capillaries inside of the lungs
  • systemic circulation
the circulation that transports blood from the heart to the rest of the body
  • liver capillaries
    capillaries inside of the liver
  • intestinal capillaries
the capillaries inside of the small and large intestine
  • renal capillaries
    capillaries inside of the kidneys
  • liver portal vein
the vein that is the only one that doesn't end in a vena cava but ends in the liver
  • liver vein
the veins that transport the blood from the liver to the heart
  • renal artery
the artery that transports the blood from the heart to the kidneys
  • arteries of other organs
arteries that go from the heart to other organs
  • veins of other organs
veins that transport blood from other organs to the heart
  • liver artery
the artery that transports blood from the heart to the liver
  • renal vein
the vein that transports blood from the kidneys to the heart
  • intestinal artery
the artery that transports blood from the heart to the intestines
  • pulmonary circulation

Circulation of blood between the heart and the lungs
  • single circulation
blood passes through the heart once in each complete circuit (fish)
