  • Setting
    . Proscenium stage, bare with use of theatrical smoke which creates texture around the dancers and is enhanced by lighting
    . Bare stage allows for formations
    . Wings allow for exits and entrances
  • Lighting
    . lighting is often blue which complements the blue costumes and name of the company
    . section 1- each dancer is on floor in individual spotlight which emphasises individuality or represent the womb linking to theme of birth (genesis)
    . section 2- shaft of white light from stage right- significant as solo dancer travels towards it along the path as if its representing his freedom and by reaching towards it shows his desire for freedom
  • Lighting (pt2)

    . the lighting changes at the start of each section complementing the change in music also aiding the structure of the dance
    . section 3- the two dancers are in a pool of white light which later spills out to cover more of the stage when the ensemble of dancers enter
    . at the end of the piece- the light changes to an amber colour when they are finally empowered to be individual
  • Costume
    . some dancers wear their own everyday jewellery to show individuality and everyday quality of the piece
    . costumes complement blue lighting allowing them to stay true to their colour
    . hair is tied back to allow for clean lines and facial expressions to be seen
  • Costume (pt2)
    . short sleeved pastel blue t-shirts and stretch blue jeans with grey trainers, creates a contemporary look which is casual. Kendrick felt this suited the hip hop style without being too urban.
    . the dancers' arms are bare so arm movements can be easily seen
    . costumes are fitted to allow movements be seen
    . stretch denim allows for ease of movement
