  • Termination of exercise
    • HR: >150 or <40
    • SBP >180 or <80
    • MAP <60
    • RR >40
    • SpO2 <88%
  • ECMO takes blood out and puts oxygen in to send back to the body
  • Veno-arterial (VA) ecmo is cannulated though the femoral artery and femoral vein
    • not safe to mobilize
  • Venovenous (VV) echo is cannulated through the internal jugular vein
    • safe to mobilize
  • With VV ecmo, blood does still flow through the lungs but no gas exchange there
  • Continuous renal replacement therapy aka CRRT
    • blood purification for patients experiencing acute kidney injury
    • over 24 hours
    • safe to mobilize
  • hemodialysis is for acute or chronic kidney failure
    • blood is removed from the body and filtered through an external membrane which provides function to the kidneys
    • do not mobilize since its only a few hours
  • Impella is a percutaneous ventricular assist device to unload the left ventricle
    • used temporarily
    • safe to mobilize if implanted in the axilla
    • goal is to maintain cardiac output
