Neutralisation - Antibody can prevent binding between a toxin and its target such thats its unable to cause damage and has no effect on the body
Precipitation - Antibodies bind to insoluble antigens causing them to form insoluble clumps
Precipitation - This enhances phagocytosis, as the clumps are then more easily removed by the phagocytes
Agglutination - Antibodies bind to antigens on the surface of cells to form antibody- antigen complexes which activate phagocytes and the complement cascade leading to destruction of the cell and pathogens
Activating the Complement System - To help disarm pathogens, enhancing phagocytosis, inflammation and pathogen removal by cell lysis
Opsonisation - Enhanced by phagocytosis by natural killer cells
