Rates of reaction 🌡️

Cards (5)

  • What is activation energy?
Activation energy is the minimum amount of energy required for a chemical reaction to occur.
  • What is the collision theory?

The collision theory states that chemical reactions occur when particles collide with energy. Chemical bonds will be broken and new bonds will form.
  • What are unsuccessful collisions?
Unsuccessful collisions are collisions between reactant molecules that do not result in a chemical reaction since there is not enough energy needed to break chemical bonds.
  • What does temperature have to do with the amount of collisions?
The higher the temperature, particles gain more kinetic energy and move faster which means they are more likely to collide with other particles and the number of successful collisions increase the faster the rate of reaction.
  • What is rate of reaction?
The speed at which a chemical reaction takes place.
