2 body systems (SA)

Cards (5)

  • Skeletal system purpose?
Movement: provides points of attachment for muscles
Protection: bones of the skull protect your brain and your ribs protect your lungs
Makes Blood: red and white blood cells are formed by tissue called marrow, which is the centre of the bone
Storage: bones store, minerals, such as calcium and phosphorus
  • Skeletal system organs (LTC, bones)
Ligaments: connective tissue holds bone at the joint
    Tendon: attaches muscles to bones
Cartilage: it acts as a cushion between bones and a joint and protect the bones
Bones support the body and are living, which means they need a supply of nutrients and oxygen
  • Homeostatic purpose of the skeletal system

When blood levels of minerals are too low bones release some of the minerals back into the blood
  • Circulatory system purpose
-Transports oxygen and nutrients to the tissues
-carries CO2 and waste products away from tissues
-plays a role in temperate and fluid regulation
-protects the body from bacteria and other dangers
  • Circulatory homeostatic purpose?
supplying/pumping blood and oxygen to all cells throughout the body, regulating pH, water homeostasis, temperature, and blood sugar levels.
